Methodology

How We Approach Every Matter

Malaysian pension entitlements sit across several regulatory frameworks — EPF, the civil service pension structure, private retirement schemes, and individual employer arrangements. Each has its own administrative processes, timelines, and dispute pathways. Knowing these is the starting point for any useful advice.

Sentosa Law's approach begins with listening — understanding the client's specific situation before offering any direction. After that comes review: examining the relevant documents, contributions records, and scheme terms. Only then do we advise, and we do so in writing so the client has something to refer to afterward.

Where a matter requires correspondence or formal proceedings, we proceed steadily and proportionately. We do not escalate unnecessarily, but we do not step back when pursuit of an entitlement is clearly warranted.

Listen First

Every engagement starts with a proper intake — understanding the client's position, concerns, and what they are hoping to achieve.

Review the Evidence

Documents, records, and scheme terms are examined methodically before any position is taken.

Advise in Writing

All advice is followed by a written summary. Clients have a record of what was discussed and what was agreed.

Follow Through

Where ongoing support or correspondence is needed, we continue until the matter is resolved or the client is ready to proceed independently.

Pension Position Walkthrough

Service One

Pension Position Walkthrough

A first, unhurried session for individuals who wish to understand their retirement entitlements clearly. The walkthrough covers EPF withdrawal options, civil service pension matters where relevant, private retirement scheme positions, beneficiary nominations, and any prior employer pension obligations.

Suitable for clients planning their retirement, recently retired, or supporting an older relative through such matters. The session is followed by a written summary in straightforward English so the client can revisit the conversation at their own pace.

  • EPF withdrawal options reviewed
  • Civil service and private retirement scheme positions covered
  • Beneficiary nominations examined
  • Prior employer obligations considered
  • Written summary provided after session

Service Two

Pension Entitlement Dispute Advisory

Considered, evidence-led support for clients who believe their pension entitlement has been incorrectly calculated, partially paid, or wrongly denied. The advisory begins with a full review of contributions records, employment history, and scheme documentation.

From that review, carefully drafted correspondence is prepared to the relevant party. Where formal proceedings become necessary, the team handles preparation and representation through industrial court or civil court channels. The approach favours careful, dignified pursuit over conflict.

  • Full contributions record and employment history review
  • Scheme documentation analysis
  • Carefully drafted correspondence prepared
  • Industrial or civil court representation where necessary
  • Regular progress updates throughout

Designed for clients who value continuity and wish to make pension decisions in a thoughtful, multi-generational way.
